Excerpt from catering associate, Robert Washington’s BEE Award presentation given by Connie Martin, Methodist Medical Center’s Vice President and Chief Support Officer.
I want to welcome you to a very special occasion. Today we will be honoring our latest BEE award honoree. For those who might not be familiar, the BEE Award is short for Being Exceptional Every day and is aimed at celebrating our ancillary caregivers. It’s a compliment to the DAISY award for RN’s and LPN’s because, as we all know, you can’t have a DAISY without a BEE and vice versa!
Today’s honoree truly is a light in people’s lives, as I know he is one in mine. Where ever he goes he looks for opportunities to make genuine connections. And it’s one of those interactions that has brought us all here today.
Let me read a snippet from this patient’s nomination:
“I was hanging my head when we first met. He told me that everything was going to be alright. I think this man just glows and he has to have touched a lot of lives. He sure touched mine and made me feel my best when I had been down. He is so selfless and even shook my hand and told me that he made a friend. I’ve never met someone so genuine. Some people just work for a paycheck, but it’s obvious he does not. He was sent from God to do this work and I thank him for it. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE IMPACT HE HAD ON ME.”
Robert Washington, this is just one of so many compliments we hear in our patient comment reports, through cards of thanks and word-of-mouth from your co-workers right here on this floor who all think the world of you. Thank you for being you, Robert, we are so thankful to have you as a member of our MMC family!
Congratulations, Robert!
