Covenant Health congratulates two health system leaders, Mark Browne, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer, and Debbi Honey, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, both of Covenant Health, who were recently named 2021 Health Care Heroes by Knox.Biz.
The 2021 Knox.Biz Health Care Heroes awards recognized ten individuals and two departments for achievements related to meeting the challenges of COVID-19. The awards were co-sponsored by First Horizon and Lincoln Memorial University. The local news publication annually recognizes people who are making significant contributions toward improving health in the Knoxville area.
Dr. Browne reflects on the past year and a half, saying, “It has given me a greater appreciation for the importance of a great team.”
Debbi Honey, who championed logistics for Covenant Health’s 350 vaccine clinics, shares her gratitude for the team effort of her staff. “We had to be zealots to make sure we didn’t waste [vaccine] doses and get as many people vaccinated as we could. I’m proud of the work our team and all of our staff did.”
Dr. Browne and Honey were honored for leading initiatives to keep Covenant Health’s patients, visitors and employees safe, and for their innovative and collaborative work with Covenant Health employees and departments throughout the system to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to our communities. The health system delivered more than 50,000 vaccines at our member hospitals and at drive-through clinics at Covenant Health’s Fort Sanders West campus.
