Welcome to Oak Ridge!

Located just outside Knoxville, Oak Ridge offers the charm and warmth of a small town with the conveniences and amenities not usually found in a city its size. Home to the world’s fastest supercomputer, Oak Ridge is home to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where research and technology initiatives in scientific discovery, clean energy, and security have ushered in an exciting period of growth for our area.

Oak Ridge city schools consistently rank among the nation’s top systems, with students routinely exceeding state and national averages on SATs, ACTs, and National Merit placements. Excellent postsecondary education resources are also available in the surrounding area.

With a total of 16 parks, 10 lighted athletic fields, 27 tennis courts, three golf courses, 1,336 acres of greenbelt, and 173 miles of shoreline, Oak Ridge offers a variety of recreation options, including a world-class rowing venue. The city is also home to a thriving cultural community that boasts a symphony, civic ballet, arts center, and the state’s oldest continuous operating community theater.

Oak Ridge is about a 30-minute drive to Knoxville, East Tennessee’s largest city, and home to the University of Tennessee. Knoxville offers opportunities for participants and spectators in all types of athletic activities, along with arts, music, and recreational activities for all ages. Year-round, festivals and celebrations draw visitors to the area to enjoy new experiences and the natural beauty of East Tennessee.
