January 2026 – Cumberland Medical Center was recently named a 2026 “Top Hospital” by Forbes.

Forbes created its inaugural “Top Hospital” list by analyzing 56 quality measures that were then divided into four categories: outcomes, best practices, value and patient experience. The outcome category consisted of 25 clinical measures that were adjusted to account for social drivers of health, such as socioeconomics and access to medical services, for each hospital’s community and then compared to the national average. Those measures accounted for more than half the weight of the overall score. Data was collected from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog.

“We are honored that Cumberland Medical Center has been named to Forbes’ 2026 ‘Top Hospitals’ list. This national recognition reflects a rigorous, data‑driven evaluation of hospital performance, including patient outcomes, adherence to best practices, value and patient experience,” said Jason Pilant, president and chief administrative officer of Cumberland Medical Center. “This achievement belongs to our physicians, nurses, caregivers and support staff whose daily commitment to quality, safety and compassionate care makes a meaningful difference for the patients and families we serve. We are proud to provide high‑quality care close to home and remain dedicated to continually improving the health of our community.”

Cumberland’s service offerings cover a wide spectrum of healthcare specialties, including cardiac caresleep servicesstroke carecancer treatment, women’s care and more. Cumberland’s sister hospitals, Fort Loudoun Medical Center in Lenoir City, LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville and Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, were also recognized on the list.
