Gamma Knife Center

The Fort Sanders Regional Gamma Knife Center features the Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion. It’s the first of its kind in Tennessee and one of only 115 in the United States. This is one of the most advanced tools available for treating brain tumors and other brain conditions, even some that were once considered inoperable.
What Is Gamma Knife Treatment?
Gamma Knife isn’t actually a knife at all. It’s a non-invasive procedure that uses focused beams of radiation to precisely target brain tumors and disorders without any cuts or incisions. The treatment typically takes two to four hours, and most patients go home the same day.
Why choose Gamma Knife?
- Advanced: Treats a wide range of brain conditions quickly and with little required from the patient
- Efficient: Usually completed in a single outpatient visit with fewer risks than traditional surgery
- Precise: Targets only the problem area, protecting healthy brain tissue nearby
How to Get Started
