To support you in doing your best, we offer a host of benefit options with resources for your health and wellness, overall well-being and your financial future.
Your Health & Wellness
-
Medical Insurance
When our employees become our patients, we want to take care of you and your family. That’s why we offer our full-time and part-time employees full coverage — meaning zero out-of-pocket cost — for inpatient and outpatient services received at wholly owned Covenant Health facilities. Put simply, if you elect insurance at a competitive rate through us, whether you have a baby, need an MRI, or undergo knee surgery, and receive care at a wholly Covenant-owned facility, you’ll pay nothing out-of-pocket.
-
Dental Insurance
We offer 3 different dental plans to our employees, with no waiting periods for major dental work.
-
Vision Insurance
We offer vision benefits through MetLife so you can keep your eyes healthy and your eyesight sharp.
-
In-House Pharmacy
Learn MoreEmployees on Covenant Health’s medical plan can receive discounted pricing on prescription medications*. Our in-house pharmacy, CovRx, delivers directly to many of our different facilities, offering convenience and allowing you to save money on your prescriptions.

-
Short-Term & Long-Term Disability
Would you be financially secure if an injury or illness sidelined you tomorrow? In the event that you are unable to work for a time, Covenant Health provides the opportunity for income replacement by offering both short-term and long-term disability. Even better, pre-existing conditions are covered when you initially enroll in our short-term disability plan.
-
Voluntary Benefits
You never know what life is going to throw at you, so we make sure to offer our employees several voluntary benefits options through Manhattan Life, including: critical illness/cancer, accident insurance, wellness screening, and our lifestyle reward program.
-
Tobacco Cessation Program
We know quitting tobacco can be hard. That’s why we pay for you to have resources that can help.
Your Well-Being
-
Combined Time Off (CTO)
It’s important to maintain a healthy work-life balance, so we encourage our employees to take time off. We offer full-time employees generous Combined Time Off (CTO), accrued paid time that you can use for a holiday, vacation, illness, or whatever you need.
-
Flexible Work Schedule
With our full-time, part-time, and PRN shifts, we offer a variety of different schedules to meet your needs.
-
Life Insurance
Your family is important to us, too. That’s why we pay the full costs of Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance for full-time and part-time employees — to provide your family with a little security if something were to happen to you.
-
WeCare
WeCare is Covenant Health’s system-wide employee giving program, allowing employees to donate personal contributions and support their community in ways that are meaningful to them. Contributions can be directed to nearly 70 WeCare funds, including clinical education scholarships, medical outreach, patient assistance, and employee support.
Most notably, WeCare is known for providing financial assistance to patients and to our Covenant Health employee family. Contributions can be used to help patients with essential needs or may be designated for an employee assistance fund to help coworkers facing unexpected personal or family expenses. In 2019, employees raised more than $600,000 to help our own.
-
Leadership & Professional Development Programs
We are committed to helping our employees grow and advance in their careers. Covenant Health offers a nurse residency program for recent graduates and supports advanced certification and continuing education across the organization. Step‑rate compensation plans and career ladder promotions in many roles further support both personal and professional growth.
With ten hospitals and Covenant Medical Group, we also offer expanded leadership opportunities. We provide targeted leadership training and have launched an “emerging leader” program to develop future leaders. Our goal is to recognize talent and place exceptional employees in key leadership roles.
-
Volunteering and Community Service
Our mission is to serve the community by improving the quality of life through better health, and we do that by reinvesting in our community. Since 2000, Covenant Health has invested more than $1.3 billion in facilities and technology and contributed approximately $278 million in charity, uncompensated, and subsidized care in 2017 alone. We also support community initiatives such as the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, HonorAir Knoxville, Habitat for Humanity, and other local organizations, and our employees continually dedicate themselves to serving others and strengthening the communities we call home.
-
Employee Recognition & Rewards
We pride ourselves on being the first and best choice for healthcare in our communities, and we value recognizing employees who go above and beyond. Covenant Health offers a variety of awards honoring excellence, service, and compassion, including the President’s Excellence Award, DAISY Award, Employee of the Month, Years of Service Awards, and specialty recognitions such as Nursing Legacy and Clinical Excellence Awards. Employees may also be nominated for both internal and external honors based on their individual contributions and areas of expertise.

-
Federal Transparency Coverage Rule
To help you make the best decision regarding your health insurance plan, here you can view machine-readable service rate files that are made available in response to the federal Transparency in Coverage Rule. The link includes negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze the data.
-
Retirement Plans
We know you have big goals for your future, but getting there will require planning and perhaps a little help. That’s why we offer a 401(k) plan through Fidelity.* To help you save a little more, we are proud to offer very competitive matching 401(k) contributions for our employees.
-
Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) can help you save on healthcare and dependent care expenses. With a Healthcare FSA, you can set aside pre‑tax dollars from your paycheck to pay for eligible medical expenses not covered by your plan, helping you manage costs and keep more of your earnings.
For employees with children or other dependents, a Dependent Care FSA offers a tax‑free way to pay for daycare, babysitting, or other qualified care. You can set aside up to $5,000 annually to be reimbursed for dependent care expenses.
-
Credit Union
We want you to know you’re first, too — that’s why Covenant Health offers the services of Consumer Credit Union for employees. Credit unions exist to serve their member-owners, so our goal is 100% member satisfaction achieved through the best possible service. Membership is open to all Covenant Health employees, and once you’re a member, you’re always a member. Consumer Credit Union is a full-service financial institution offering competitive loan and savings rates.
-
Student Loan Repayment Assistance
We want to help you pay off your student loan debt faster so that you can focus on other financial goals. That’s why we launched our Student Loan Repayment Assistance Program.* We contribute a set amount every month toward the principal amount of your student loans — a potential savings of several thousand dollars over the duration of the loan repayment.
-
Tuition Reimbursement
If you decide to pursue additional job-related, clinical education, we have programs in place designed to assist you with educational expenses for specific career fields.
-
Employee Referral Bonus
As Covenant Health continues to grow, we’re constantly looking for more great employees. We already know our employees are some of our best advocates. After all, who would know better than our current employees the type of people likely to share in our mission and thrive here? That’s why we put into place our Employee Referral Program, where you can earn a bonus for each successful referral hired.
*Except where covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
