DAISY Award Winner: Bridget Frazier
A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored recently with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the superhuman efforts nurses give every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days.

Congratulations to Bridget a nurse in Parkwest’s Emergency Department, for being recognized with the DAISY Award. Bridget was nominated by a patient’s family member for listening with compassion during a stressful time.
Bridget’s Nomination
“We accompanied our Godson and his parents during a 3-day stay in the ER. The family was very scared and frustrated because the doctor had not spoken with them in more than 24 hours of being in the hospital.
In desperation, I found out who the unit coordinator was and asked to speak with her. Bridget took me and the patient’s mother to a consult room and listened to our concerns without being defensive. She truly listened, and then she explained. She answered all of our questions and made sure we understood.
Bridget took this time with us even though there were four patients in the halls, and we found out that two ambulances had just arrived. She is a good leader and a compassionate nurse, modeling this behavior for others. “
This is Bridget’s second DAISY Award. She was previously recognized in December of 2023. You can read her previous winning nomination here.
