Celebrating DAISY Award Winner Michelle Martin, RN

We are honored to recognize Michelle Martin, RN, a compassionate and dedicated nurse at Morristown-Hamblen, who has been selected as a recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This meaningful award celebrates nurses who consistently go above and beyond in delivering exceptional care to patients and their families.

The DAISY Award was created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of an autoimmune disease. During his hospitalization, Patrick’s family was profoundly touched by the extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence shown by his nurses. In his memory, they established the DAISY Foundation to honor nurses who make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Michelle’s Nomination

“Michelle continuously advocated for my uncle & educated the entire family on everything that was going on. She was very caring towards my uncle as well as our entire family. I believe her advocating for my uncle was the reason he survived as long as he did. She was very detailed in her nursing care and treated him as I believe she would want her family cared for.”

Michelle was celebrated in a special ceremony within her unit, where she received:
• A certificate of recognition
• A DAISY Award pin
• A hand carved stone sculpture titled “A Healer’s Touch,” created by artists in Zimbabwe to symbolize the profound impact nurses have on those they care for
