Our Hiring Process


Step 1: Apply

The first step of the hiring process is finding a role and submitting an application. Apply today!

Step 2: Interviews

A recruiter will contact you to start the interview process. Be prepared to discuss your skills and experiences. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about us. We encourage you to ask questions about job requirements, the type of work you would be expected to do, and your team. Upon completion of the interview process, we will determine if an offer will be extended to you.

Step 3: Offer Process

The hiring manager and interviewers will make the final hiring decision. Applicants who are interviewed will be notified once the recruiting process has concluded, and the top candidate will receive an offer. Upon acceptance of our offer, your recruiter will help you coordinate your start date and you will be contacted by a Staffing Coordinator to walk you through the next steps.

Step 4: Pre-Employment Testing

All offers are contingent on successfully completing the onboarding process, which includes a background screening, health screen, drug test and other job-related requirements.

Step 5: Start

Welcome to the Covenant Health team! Upon your start date, you will attend New Employee Orientation. If you have any questions along The Hiring Process, please contact your Recruiter or Staffing Coordinator.

Nursing Units at Roane Medical Center


Emergency Department

The Emergency Department includes dedicated trauma suites and preferred behavioral health rooms. During afternoon and evening hours, Roane opens an accelerated process to see patients more efficiently. As a primary stroke center, we have the ability to treat acute strokes and also provide stabilizing care for other urgent conditions, with a helipad to transport patients as required. Our team consists of our board-certified physicians who are employed through TeamHealth, RNs, LPNs, HUCs and ED techs. We work closely and collaboratively as a team to deliver the best care and services to the community we serve.

Intensive Care Unit

The Intensive Care Unit is dedicated to providing the finest life-sustaining interventions and compassionate care to patients with critical care needs. Adjacent to the emergency department, this unit is located on the first floor and has a dedicated family waiting room with open visitation to promote support for each patient. Staff consists of Hospitalists employed by TeamHealth, RNs, CNAs and Tele-ICU intensivists. We also have Tele Services such as nephrology, neurology and behavioral health. Dialysis is just one of the many services we can provide for our patient population.

Intermediate Care Unit

The Step-Down Unit is located on the second floor of the hospital known as 2-North. This unit cares for a variety of diagnoses and administers patient interventions such as cardiac drips, non-invasion ventilation, frequent monitoring of vital signs and/or frequent assessment of condition. The nurses work alongside the internal medicine, pulmonary, cardiac, general surgery and neurology physicians to care for patients requiring an intermediate level of care with a typical nurse to patient ratio of 4 to 1. The leadership team of this unit consists of a nurse manager, evening unit supervisor, an educator and shift leaders.

Med/Surg Unit

The Med/Surg Unit is located on the second floor of the hospital known as 2-North. The team consists of RNs, LPNS, PCAs and Health unit coordinators working together in a team nursing model to care for a variety of diagnoses such as: Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Pneumonia, Status post joint surgery or general surgery, Cerebral Vascular Accident/TIA, Diabetes, Sepsis, Acute/Chronic Kidney disease. The Med/Surg team works closely with every department in the hospital including surgery, dietary, respiratory therapy, case management, laboratory, radiology and physical therapy to deliver comprehensive care from admission to discharge. The leadership team of this unit consists of a nurse manager, evening unit supervisor, an educator and shift leaders.

Nursing Student Opportunities

The Student Nurse Associate (SNA) positions offered at Covenant Health offer invaluable hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. To qualify for this position, you must be in your junior or senior year of study in a registered nursing program and have either completed the fundamental clinical skills portion of the program or be scheduled to finish it within the same semester of employment.
