The Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Department entrance is accessed via High Street and West 6th North Street. Parking is available adjacent to the Emergency Department patient drop-off area.

We provide different levels of service to a variety of Tennessee patients with emergent (life-threatening), urgent (not immediately life-threatening) and non-urgent medical care needs.

It’s important to note—depending upon the severity of your illness or injury, you may not be treated in the order in which you arrived.

The Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Department is equipped with the only Heart Cath Lab in the Lakeway Area. 

This means  our emergency physicians and cardiologists can quickly diagnose heart attacks and get you the life-saving cardiac procedures you need. They are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support.

The Emergency Department at Morristown-Hamblen is also the East Tennessee area’s only Designated General Pediatric Emergency Facility, offering specialized equipment and advanced training and certification in caring for emergencies involving children.

Important Considerations in a Medical Emergency

What would you do in a medical emergency? Although no one likes to think about it, it’s good to be prepared,  just in case. 

Here are some tips we recommend you consider, to streamline the process in the event of an emergency—

  • Keep a list of your loved ones’—
    • Names
    • Addresses
    • Phone numbers
    • Social Security numbers
    • Current medication (dosage and schedule)
    • And insurance information
  • Know if your loved ones have a living will. You or a family member will be asked for this information upon arrival at the Emergency Department.

These tips will come in handy, if you or a loved one ever have to face a medical emergency.

Emergency Department Visitor Guidelines at Morristown-Hamblen

When a patient is being attended to in the Emergency Department at Morristown-Hamblen, a visitor’s pass will be given to one family member.

We encourage that family member to serve as the information contact for other loved ones. The MHHS hospital staff cannot give information to family members without a verbal okay from the patient, themself.
