Sleep Evaluation

A complete sleep evaluation typically involves one to two nights of sleep monitoring. Sleep studies measure factors such as the amount of oxygen in your blood during sleep, your amount of restless movement during sleep, and the time it takes for you to fall asleep during the day.

Tests We Administer

The following tests are performed at the Parkwest Sleep Disorders Center:

  • A polysomnography is a test that records a variety of your body functions during sleep, such as the electrical activity of the brain, eye movement, muscle activity, heart rate, respiratory effort, airflow, and blood oxygen levels.
  • An overnight polysomnography test involves monitoring your brain waves, muscle tension, eye movement, respiration, the oxygen level in your blood, and audio monitoring.
  • A Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) is a test that measures excess daytime sleepiness in an individual. If you fall asleep in less than five minutes, you are likely to require some type of treatment for a sleep disorder.

Home Sleep Testing

The Parkwest Sleep Disorders Center has also been accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine to provide home sleep tests. We offer this convenient option for you while demonstrating a commitment to quality diagnostic services. A home sleep test allows you to sleep at home while wearing equipment that collects information about nocturnal breathing patterns.

Insurance

Most insurance companies provide coverage for the evaluation of sleep disorders. Contact your insurance company for details on your policy’s specific conditions.
