Jodi Counts, RN, Honored with DAISY Award

A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days. Congratulations to Jodi an RN, in the Radiology Department for being recognized with the DAISY award. Jodi was nominated for the care and compassion she showed to her patient during their hospital stay.

Jodi’s Nomination

“God gifted me with Jodi today. I had not felt well since having my port placed and had returned to the hospital to have it checked out and Jodi was my nurse. In a span of 12 days I had a hysterectomy, learned my cyst was cancerous and that I would have to have chemo, and my precious mother had passed away. I was physically and emotionally drained from all that that was going on. She comforted me that day and let me know that she was going to take care of me. She explained everything to me as she accessed my port for the first time. She shared her personal experience with me. It was so calming to have someone share exactly what I had been feeling and that all the mixed emotions and fears were okay. I truly felt peace and love around Jodi. When it was time for my discharge, she gave me a hug and encouraged me. She was a blessing to me and she strengthened me as I prepared for chemo. Thank you, Jodi.”

Jodi was presented with a certificate, a pin, daisy arrangement, The Healer’s Touch sculpture and cinnamon rolls for her and her department to enjoy! Congratulations to Jodi! We appreciate her dedication to nursing and for always going above and beyond for her patients!
