A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center recently received The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the “superhuman” efforts nurses give every day.
Congratulations to Benjamin Davis, a nurse on 4 Riverstone. A patient’s daughter nominated Ben for the compassion and kindness he demonstrated during the patient’s hospital stay.
Ben’s Nomination
“Our mother was on 4 Riverstone for a few weeks and we had Benjamin 6 or 7 times as our nurse and every time we had him he came in with a smile on his face and a great attitude which is exactly what we needed each morning. He was attentive to my mother’s needs along with me and the rest of my family. He took the time to ask us how we were doing through all of this and when our mom wanted water he would ask us if we need anything as well.
He was caring and kind to me and my family. My son has special needs, and he sat down and explained to him what was going on and for once my son calmed down and just was happy to be with his grandmother. By far Benjamin was the best nurse we had when we were at Parkwest. The care he gave my mother, and the rest of my family was beyond what we could’ve hoped for. I hope there are more nurses like him out in the world because the world is a better place because he is in it. If i could give him a hug I would.
Every time we thanked him or tried to give him something all he would say was ‘I’m not in the career field for praise of gifts. The best gift I can get is for you to get better,’ and it broke our hearts because he had a lot of love to give, and we felt selfish taking it. I hope this makes it back to him even if he doesn’t win.” Nominated by: Sarah, a patient’s daughter
