Amputee Rehabilitation

Physical therapists help patients prepare for surgery and regain strength, movement, and function after their surgery.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy is performed in water, which creates buoyancy and decreases pain and stress on weight-bearing joints.

Astym® Treatment

This treatment regenerates healthy soft tissue and eliminates or reduces scar tissue that may be causing pain or loss of motion. ,It is frequently prescribed for athletes, “weekend warriors,” post-surgical patients, and chronic sufferers.

Cancer Rehab

We work with people undergoing cancer treatment and with cancer survivors to address post-operative limitations, energy conservation, home modification and ways to make daily activities easier during or after cancer treatment.

Certified Hand Therapy

Our therapists provide the highest level of competency and skill in treating hands and upper extremities to assure maximum recovery.

Dizziness/Vertigo Treatment

This treatment uses an exercise-based approach aimed at eliminating or minimizing imbalance and dizziness associated with vestibular (inner-ear) disorders.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique physical therapists use for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. It uses a small, solid needle called a “dry” needle in conjunction with other PT treatments.

Headaches

This treatment focuses on the treatment of cervicogenic headaches (headaches caused by tightness in the neck muscles).

LSVT BIG and LOUD

This therapy uses unique approaches such as exaggerating body motion and speech to help minimize impairments caused by Parkinson’s disease.

Lymphedema Treatment Program

This therapy reduces swelling caused by lymphedema, with a focus on maintaining healthy skin and preventive measures to reduce the risk of lymphedema.

Manual Therapy

Skilled hand movements of joints and soft tissue are used to improve tissue extensibility, increase range of motion, induce relaxation, modulate pain or reduce swelling.

McKenzie Method

This method provides superior functional outcomes for back, neck and extremity problems. It emphasizes education and active patient involvement to quickly decrease pain, restore normal function, prevent a recurrence and minimize other medical interventions.

Occupational Therapy

Our highly certified and experienced occupational therapists work to improve patients’ basic motor function, ability to carry out daily activities, and compensate for any permanent loss of function.

Pediatrics

Pediatric therapy helps improve a child’s ability to optimally interact and function in their environment.

Pelvic Health (Men and Women)

Pelvic health encompasses issues of the gastrointestinal, urologic, gynecologic, and musculoskeletal disorders surrounding the pelvis. Treatment helps to improve function and limit pain associated with these systems in the body.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy focuses on improving speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive abilities.

TMJ Dysfunction

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction can limit natural jaw functions such as chewing and talking, and can cause pain. Treatment helps ease pain, regain normal jaw movement and lessen daily stress on the jaw.

“They treat you like family here. I get one-on-one time with the therapists where the focus is completely on my plan. It is very individualized, and I appreciate that.”

“The entire team was phenomenal. They pushed me, and even small exercises, like picking marbles out of Play-Doh, helped me do more than I ever expected.”

“They listened. They explained everything, and they helped me get my life back. Their support made a difficult situation feel manageable.”

Featured Patient Story: Isaiah’s Journey to Recovery Through Therapy at Covenant Health

After a serious dirt bike accident, Isaiah was left with life‑threatening injuries and an uncertain prognosis for recovery. Despite the odds, he began a long and difficult journey toward healing with Covenant Health Therapy Center – West Knoxville. There, Isaiah found a dedicated therapy team that supported him, encouraged him and helped him stay hopeful during one of the hardest times in his life.

Mikayla Alissandrello, MOT, OTR/L, CLT, one of Isaiah’s occupational therapists, remembers just how far he has come.

“When I first started working with Isaiah, he had very limited use of his right arm due to multiple fractures and a brachial plexus injury with significant nerve damage,” Mikayla says. “He struggled with pain, poor sensation, lifting his arm and holding small objects. Today, he can lift his arm overhead, carry heavier items, feed himself and manage tasks like buttons and zippers. His progress has truly been amazing.”

Isaiah credits his recovery not only to the therapy itself, but to the people who stood by him throughout the process.

“The therapists treated me like family, not a patient,” Isaiah says. “They were welcoming, encouraging and supportive in every way.”
