Location

Claiborne County is situated in the heart of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, bordering Kentucky to the North and Virginia to the East.  Its temperate climate allows residents to enjoy all four seasons, with the picturesque mountain backdrop, Claiborne County is a perfect place to call home.  Claiborne County comprises the city of Harrogate, the towns of Cumberland Gap, New Tazewell , and Tazewell, as well as several unincorporated communities.

Claiborne County takes pride in providing its residents with an outstanding quality of life and an affordable cost of living. The community is full of both life and growth. With 13 public schools throughout the county, in addition to private schools, Claiborne County is an excellent place to raise a family. Lincoln Memorial University and Walters State Community College are also located in Claiborne County.

Residents and visitors to Claiborne County have an abundance of outdoor activity options. With easy access to Norris Lake and Powell River, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and other water activities are well-loved pasttimes. The Claiborne area is also rich in historical museums and opportunities to explore the past at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.  Several golf courses are found throughout Claiborne County, as well as the Tazewell Speedway.  Claiborne County hosts many annual events for the community, such as a Chili Cook Off, Harvest Fest, and Glow Run.
