Emergency Response in Claiborne County

Claiborne EMS is the official, designated 911 ambulance service for Claiborne County, providing around‑the‑clock emergency response and patient transport. Our teams respond to approximately 7,200 calls each year, delivering advanced life support (ALS) care and safe, timely transport when it matters most.

Claiborne EMS is operated by Claiborne Medical Center, a Covenant Health hospital, connecting community-based emergency response with the resources of a regional health system.

What to Expect During an Ambulance Call

  1. Dispatch and Arrival: Our dispatch receives your call, and the nearest available unit is sent. Crews introduce themselves, assess safety and begin medical assessment.
  2. Assessment and Treatment: We check vital signs, obtain a brief history and initiate appropriate advanced or basic life support care on scene and en route.
  3. Destination Decision: Based on your condition and medical direction, we transport to the most appropriate facility, often Claiborne Medical Center or a regional partner if specialty care is needed.
  4. Communication: We provide a verbal handoff to hospital clinicians so your care continues without delay.
