Nursing Units at Methodist Medical Center

Emergency Department

Methodist’s emergency department includes two dedicated trauma suites and two dedicated behavioral rooms. We have a helipad for urgent transports to and from our facility and we work shoulder-to-shoulder with our local EMS providers to deliver services both on-site and out in the field. We work alongside an award-winning group of board-certified physician leaders who are members of our medical staff but who are employed through TeamHealth. Our clinical and ancillary team members include RNs, Paramedics, ED techs and unit coordinators. Imaging capabilities are offered within our department, so we work closely with our medical imaging team members, as well as those first greeting our patients during the registration process.

Acute Care Unit

Methodist Medical Center’s Acute Care Unit (ACU) includes the Coronary Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit and Step-Down patients requiring a higher level of care located on the first floor of the hospital. The ACU treats medical, surgical and cardiovascular surgical patients. We provide care for all disciplines of healthcare including surgical, renal, oncology, trauma, cardiac and neurology. The leadership team consists of shift managers, a unit supervisor, a manager and a director.

Ortho/Med-Surg Department

Located on the second floor of the hospital and known as 2-West, Methodist’s medical-surgical and ortho-neuro department serves post-surgical patients. We work alongside the best physicians and surgeons to provide specialty services for general, orthopedic, urologic as well as medical patients. The leadership team consists of a manager, nursing unit supervisor and a dedicated case manager/joint care coordinator.

Family Birthing Center

Methodist Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center is located on the hospital’s second floor (2-East) and is a locked unit for the safety and privacy of our laboring patients. The Family Birthing Center consists of LDRP suites, triage rooms and inpatient rooms that serve obstetrical, gynecologic and outpatient transfusions. Our facility averages 500 deliveries annually.

Cardiology Department

Methodist Medical Center’s cardiology unit is located on 3-West, with telemetry monitoring capability in each inpatient room. We care for cardiology, post open heart, peritoneal dialysis and medical patients. The leadership team consists of a manager and a shift manager.

Oncology Unit

Our Oncology Unit is located on the fourth floor of the hospital and is referred to internally as 4-West. We have a team nursing model that we follow as well as primary care roles. This unit offers opportunities for team nursing along with some primary nursing assignments.

Heart/Lung/Vascular Department

This unit is comprised of the Heart, Lung and Vascular Department and IMC Intermediate Care, Critical Care Step Down. The pulmonary medical/surgical environment provides care for adult patients experiencing primarily pulmonary healthcare concerns. Frequently observed ailments include COPD exacerbation, respiratory viruses, asthma, bronchitis and more. The IMC is a critical care step-down unit that provides enhanced nursing services for patients who are too sick to be safely provided care on a medical/surgical unit, but may not need the monitoring available in the ICU. Our patients in the IMC are mixed acuity, which means you may encounter cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, urological, gastrointestinal or endocrine step-down patients.

Surgical Services

The Surgical Services department prides itself on providing evidence-based pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative patient care. Surgical specialties include Cardiothoracic, Orthopedic, Neuro, General, Vascular, GYN, Urology, Robotics and more. GI procedures include Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP and more.
