Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center will complete construction on two new critical care floors in early 2021, and we are hiring skilled and motivated nurses. Join our dynamic team as we expand our critical care capacity and continue our 100-year legacy of caring for our community.
Our Neuro ICU (23 rooms), Medical-Surgical ICU (25 rooms), and Cardiovascular ICU (24 rooms) will make up the new critical care department, located on the fourth and fifth floors of the Center for Advanced Medicine.
New, state-of-the-art critical care department
Rooms will feature:
- Ample space for both nursing staff and family to be in the room during patient careIn-room computer workstation for easy charting, monitors for personal or patient display
- Lab barcode printing capability
- Overhead lifting equipment to assist in mobilization and movement of patients In-room dialysis connections
The departments will feature:
- Organized space for interdisciplinary rounds between team members for better patient outcomes and communication
- Physician dictation rooms and collaboration areas to provide convenient and expedient interactions between nursing staff and critical care intensivists, who are readily available in emergent situations
- HUC stationed centrally outside each unit to control entry and assist with screening patient call lights
- Nurse workstations located between every two patient rooms, allowing for constant view of patients and vital/telemetry monitoring
- Secure, badge-only entry
- Staff break room
- Staff lactation and/or quiet room
Strengthen your skills
Caring for the most critical of patients offers nurses the chance to strengthen their skills.
Medical-Surgical ICU nurses can expect to practice:
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Rotoprone therapy for ARDS
- Management of shock and care for the complex medical surgical patient
Neuro ICU nurses can expect to practice:
- Advanced neurological assessments
- EVD maintenance
- The Stroke scale
- TPA follow up
- Surgical recovery
