Our Hiring Process


Step 1: Apply

The first step of the hiring process is finding a role and submitting an application. Apply today!

Step 2: Interviews

A recruiter will contact you to start the interview process. Be prepared to discuss your skills and experiences. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about us. We encourage you to ask questions about job requirements, the type of work you would be expected to do, and your team. Upon completion of the interview process, we will determine if an offer will be extended to you.

Step 3: Offer Process

The hiring manager and interviewers will make the final hiring decision. Applicants who are interviewed will be notified once the recruiting process has concluded, and the top candidate will receive an offer. Upon acceptance of our offer, your recruiter will help you coordinate your start date and you will be contacted by a Staffing Coordinator to walk you through the next steps.

Step 4: Pre-Employment Testing

All offers are contingent on successfully completing the onboarding process, which includes a background screening, health screen, drug test and other job-related requirements.

Step 5: Start

Nursing Units at Cumberland Medical Center


Labor and Delivery Unit

The Labor and Delivery Unit provides LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Post-partum) suites for laboring women in a baby-friendly environment, triage/monitoring rooms, an operating room and a newborn nursery. This unit also provides care for antepartum and female surgeries requiring stay.

Critical Care Unit

The Critial Care Unit is equipped for patients with diagnoses of sepsis, respiratory failure, altered mental status, fluid overload, STEMI’s, post PCI, Afib with RVR, DKA, Covid-19 and flu. This unit cares for patients on ventilators, artic sun, balloon pumps, CRRT, post-surgical patients, cardiac drips, sedation and patients who are hemodynamically unstable.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Cumberland Medical Center serves our community by providing outstanding patient care during emergent medical situations. Our medical staff provides care for cardiac, stroke/neurology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, urology, orthopedic, pediatric, ENT, behavioral health, renal and trauma patients.

Intermediate Care Unit

This Step-Down Unit cares for a variety of medical diagnoses and specializes in severe cardiac, respiratory, metabolic and neurologic conditions requiring continuous monitoring and close observation. Patient population may require titratable IV drips, post-cardiac stent care and tracheostomy care. This unit may also treat stable ventilator patients requiring hospitalization for non-respiratory conditions.

Cardiology

The Cardiac Unit cares for patients with cardiac related illnesses and specializes in NSTEMI, CHF and stable angina requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. Care may also require preparation for cardiac procedures and care of patient post cardiac cath without intervention and post pacemaker placement.

Medical Surgical Unit

The Medical Surgical Unit cares for patients following orthopedic and general surgical procedures. This unit may also see patients with medical illnesses requiring care expertise in nasogastric tube placement and maintenance, wound and ostomy care, surgical drain maintenance, blood product administration and TPN therapy, as well as sepsis care.

Cardiac Cath Lab

The Cardiac Cath lab offers comprehensive services including diagnostic and interventional procedures, alongside a 24/7 STEMI program for prompt care in critical cardiac situations.

Ambulatory Surgery Center GI and GI Lab Endoscopy Main Campus

Cumberland Medical Center provides Endoscopy Services at two locations. The Ambulatory Surgery Center GI is located at 116 Brown Avenue offering a comprehensive range of endoscopic procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, BRAVO pH esophageal monitoring, Esophageal Manometry and Hemorrhoid Therapy. The Center consists of GI labs, a procedure room and Holding/Recovery beds.

GI Lab Endoscopy is located within the Surgery Department of Cumberland Medical Center. This department offers diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, feeding tube insertions, HALO procedures and bronchoscopy performed for high risk outpatients and inpatients.

Day Surgery/Ambulatory Infusion Center

The Day Surgery/Ambulatory Infusion Center is located on the 3rd floor of Cumberland Medical Center. The unit consists of private patient rooms and infusion therapy rooms. Services provided include preoperative preparation, Phase II recovery and a wide variety of Infusion Therapy services, including PICC line insertions, antibiotic therapy, biological infusion therapy, blood transfusion and chemotherapy.

Pre-Admission Testing

Preadmission Testing offices are located on the 1st floor of Cumberland Medical Center. Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses meet with patients prior to scheduled surgical or other procedures to obtain a comprehensive medical history, conduct medication review and reconciliation, provide pre-procedure education and complete necessary diagnostic testing.

Surgery

The Surgery Department is located on the 2nd floor of Cumberland Medical Center and is equipped with state-of-the-art video operating rooms, a Cystoscopy Room, a minor operating room providing Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy services, and an Endoscopy Lab. Surgical services provided include ENT, Orthopedic, General, Gynecological, Urological, Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Thorascopic procedures, Podiatry, Pain Management and Dental. One-on-one intensive care is provided.

Post Anesthesia Care Unit

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit is located within the Surgical Suite and consists of patient care bays and an isolation room. The PACU performs Cardioversion procedures and provides Phase I recovery to patients receiving anesthesia for surgical procedures. The nursing staff also provides pre-procedure care in the Holding Area.

Nursing Student Opportunities

The Student Nurse Associate (SNA) positions offered at Covenant Health offer invaluable hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. To qualify for this position, you must be in your junior or senior year of study in a registered nursing program and have either completed the fundamental clinical skills portion of the program or be scheduled to finish it within the same semester of employment.
