What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a highly trained physician who specializes in the care of patients in the hospital. They partner with the patient as well as their primary care provider to help support their care.

Navigating Your Hospital Care

As a physician focused on providing care within the hospital, they are quickly able to respond to your care needs. They learn your personal health history and ensure a smooth transition plan of care back to your primary care doctor after you leave the hospital. You and your loved ones are able to ask them a variety of questions to help navigate choices related to your care. They also help the hospital ensure you receive the prescriptions, resources and instructions you need for discharge.

Independent Contractors

Hospitalists are not employees or agents of the hospital. They have an Independent Contractor Status. Independent practitioners generally accept the same insurances as the hospital. Because insurance coverage for billing varies for deductibles and copays, we welcome patients to inquire about their insurance plans.
