About the Covenant Health Marathon Team

Signature event made possible by thousands of volunteers.

Since 2005, the Covenant Health Marathon Team has served as ambassadors for Covenant Health’s not-for-profit mission to improve the quality of life in East Tennessee during the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. Through training prep and competition, the team demonstrates the integral role of health and fitness in enhancing one’s health.

Members of the inaugural team included then-Mayor Bill Haslam, WBIR News anchor Beth Haynes, and a group of energetic community members all working together for a strong finish on race day. Since then, the Covenant Health Marathon Team has served as a fixture on the day of the marathon.

The program has evolved over the years, with participants typically making up the team yearly. A committee of representatives from the Marathon, the Knoxville Track Club, and Covenant Health selects each year’s team. The committee reaches out to members in the community who we know will hold themselves accountable while inspiring the other marathoners.

2023 Marathon Team: Community-focused

Although we are incredibly proud to have support in building a great Covenant Health Marathon Team every year, 2023 will be a bit different. Instead of a usual team, we’ll focus on the stories of individuals and see how they’ve trained for the marathon, found the motivation to continue training, and reached race day.

Run for Your Reason

During this year’s marathon, find your reason to run. The proceeds for the 2023 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley.
