For more than two decades, the Ritzy Thimble Quilting Guild has been quietly stitching comfort, warmth, and hope into every quilt they donate. Their handcrafted creations have become cherished gifts for patients staying in the Hospitality Houses of Methodist Medical Center. These gifts are given while patients undergo cancer treatment.

The Power of Community Connection

The partnership between the Ritzy Thimble Quilting Guild and Methodist Medical Center is a testament to the power of community compassion. Each quilt donated is a symbol of care and support. It serves as a tangible reminder to patients. They are not alone during one of the most challenging times of their lives.

Methodist’s Hospitality Houses serve as a home-away-from-home for patients and their families who must travel for treatment. The thoughtful donation of quilts adds a personal and comforting touch to these spaces. For many, these quilts become treasured keepsakes that offer both physical warmth and emotional solace.

“We are deeply grateful to the Ritzy Thimble Quilting Guild for their long-standing dedication,” said Taynia Thornton, Volunteer Services and Hospitality House coordinator with Methodist Medical Center.  “Their generosity has touched countless lives, and the impact of their work cannot be overstated. The quilts they provide are more than blankets — they are a source of strength and encouragement for our patients.”

Your Talent, Our Thank You

The Ritzy Thimble Quilting Guild is composed of talented and compassionate individuals. They volunteer their time and artistry to make a difference. Their commitment is unwavering, and their creativity shines through in every design, fabric choice, and stitch.

On behalf of the staff, patients, and families at Methodist Medical Center, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of the Ritzy Thimble Quilting Guild. Your work wraps our patients in more than just quilts. It wraps them in kindness, hope, and healing.

A handwritten thank-you note is projected on a screen above a table displaying several folded, colorful quilts. The note expresses gratitude for the quilts and the care received from the Methodist Family Medicine Residency team.
During the presentation, guild members read thank you notes left by guests and patients who received quilts on their behalf.
