An older man with white hair, glasses, and a beard is wearing a white lab coat, blue shirt, and red patterned tie, standing against a neutral gray background.

Donald Sandercock, DO, is leading the charge for advanced orthopedic solutions in Loudon County. As an experienced orthopedic surgeon, he helps patients find the right care so they can get back to doing what they love.

“If you let patients talk long enough, they’ll usually tell you what’s wrong,” Dr. Sandercock says. His approach is simple but powerful: listen first, then solve the problem. For him, orthopedics is about restoring quality of life—whether that means replacing a worn-out knee or helping someone enjoy time with their grandkids again.

A Career Built on Service and Expertise

Dr. Sandercock’s journey to medicine began in the Air Force, where he spent 24 years working in orthopedic care. Early on, an assignment to an orthopedic clinic at Andrews Air Force Base introduced him to a specialty focused on restoring movement and helping people return to the lives they love.

That experience sparked a lasting interest that shaped his professional journey. Motivated by the impact orthopedic care can have on quality of life, Dr. Sandercock went on to attend medical school and complete specialized training as an orthopedic surgeon. Today, he brings decades of knowledge and a problem-solving mindset to Covenant Health patients at Fort Loudoun Orthopedics and Fort Loudoun Medical Center in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

“This is something that is genuinely fun and that I am passionate about. It never feels like work,” he says about his profession. His passion shows in every interaction, and his goal is clear: help patients regain movement and independence.

Advanced Technology for Better Outcomes

Covenant Health is committed to clinical excellence and innovation. Dr. Sandercock uses robotic-assisted navigation for joint replacements, a technology that improves precision and recovery. While this advanced system is currently used for knees, upgrades will soon allow hip and shoulder procedures—keeping our team at the forefront of orthopedic care.

“I’ve seen this in so many people over the years. Hip and knee replacements can drastically improve quality of life,” he explains. His focus is on timely, effective care that changes lives.

More Than Medicine

Outside the operating room, Dr. Sandercock enjoys building furniture, restoring old cars, and spending time with his five grandchildren. He and his wife moved to Tennessee to be closer to family, and he’s proud to serve the same community where his loved ones live.

Why Choose Covenant Health?
