Covenant Health LeConte’s Volunteer Scholarship Program Helps People Pursue a Future in Healthcare

At Covenant Health LeConte, investing in people goes beyond medical care. We also bring that commitment to life through our Volunteer Scholarship Fund. This fund helps employees, their dependents and volunteers take the next step in their education.

The scholarship was developed thanks to the generosity and dedication of our volunteer program and funds raised through the hospital’s thrift store and gift shop. Every purchase and hour of time donated provides opportunities for people to further their education in healthcare.

Investing in Tomorrow’s Care

At Covenant Health, we know great care starts with great people. That means supporting those who are passionate about making a difference.

“The Volunteer Scholarship Program reflects our commitment to growing the next generation of healthcare professionals. We’re continually inspired by the passion and dedication these students bring, and we’re honored to support their journey.” says Angie Montgomery, Covenant Health LeConte human resources manager.

The Volunteer Scholarship Fund is open to those pursuing careers in healthcare who demonstrate strong character, a heart for service and a genuine desire to learn. Year after year, applicants continue to raise the bar. They bring not only academic promise but also a deep commitment to caring for others.

“This scholarship is made possible by the generosity of our volunteers and our community. It’s incredibly rewarding to see those efforts come full circle by helping future caregivers pursue their dreams.” says Aaron Burns, Covenant Health LeConte president and chief administrative officer.

Celebrating Our 2026 Scholarship Recipients

This year, the volunteer services department awarded a total of $6,000 in scholarships. These funds went to an outstanding group of people:

  • Corbin Whitaker, an employee dependent, received a $1,500 scholarship to pursue a career in Pre Med with interest in Orthopedics
  • Addie Dorwin, an employee dependent, was recognized with a $1,000 scholarship to help pursue a career as a Registered Nurse
  • Crystal Kindrell, an employee, earned a $1,000 scholarship to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Each of these recipients represents the future of healthcare, and we’re proud to be a small part of their journey.

More Than a Scholarship

This program is about more than financial support. It’s about showing students that they have a community behind them, one that believes in their potential and is invested in their success.

“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity. It motivates me even more to work hard, give back and one day make a difference in patients’ lives.” says Corbin Whitaker.

At Covenant Health LeConte, we’re proud to provide expert care with advanced technology, compassionate teams and a commitment to excellence. Through this scholarship, students get a glimpse into that mission and an open door to be part of it.
