Fort Loudoun Medical Center has earned another “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2026 from The Leapfrog Group. This marks the sixth consecutive “A” grade the hospital has received.
What are The Leapfrog Group Safety Ratings?
The Leapfrog Group collects and reports data related to safety, quality and hospital performance. They assign safety grades based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that a hospital is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
Connie Martin, chief administrative officer at Covenant Health Fort Loudoun stated, “Maintaining an ‘A’ grade year after year reflects the trust our patients place in us and the care our team brings to every moment. At Covenant Health Fort Loudoun, patient safety is woven into how we serve—through compassion, accountability, and a deep commitment to doing what’s right for our neighbors. I’m incredibly proud of our physicians, caregivers, and staff who live this promise every day.”
Fort Loudoun Earns “Straight A” Status
Fort Loudoun is designated as a “Straight A” hospital, defined as hospitals that have earned an “A” grade for the spring and previous five or more grading rounds. Roughly 15.7% of eligible hospitals have earned this designation.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“Covenant Health Fort Loudoun deserves recognition for its unwavering focus on protecting patients and delivering safe care, earning an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for six consecutive cycles,” said Binder. “Sustaining this level of excellence over time shows a true, organization-wide commitment to making patient safety a top priority every single day.”
