A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored recently with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the superhuman efforts nurses give every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days.

Congratulations to Dani, a nurse in Parkwest’s Emergency Department, for being recognized with the DAISY Award. Dani was nominated by a patient and her mother, for providing comforting care during a stressful time.

Dani’s 1st Nomination

“When I got to the ER to see my daughter who was so scared and worried, she put my mind at ease. She told me what was going on and why things were the way they were. She assured me that my daughter was OK and if I had any questions to please let her know and she’d help in any way she could.

She was so sweet to my daughter. She was crying and upset not understanding why this was happening. Dani told her she would be right there with her until I came, and she was. That meant a lot to me. She is so amazing. She calmed my daughter down and was able to get the blood that was need for them to see what was going on. If I could give her a million dollars for helping my daughter who was terrified because her face was so swollen she couldn’t see, I would! Dani rocks!” Nominated by: A Patient’s Mom

Dani’s 2nd Nomination

“Dani is very special to me. I couldn’t see because my eyes were swollen shut. I was scared, confused and wanted my mom. She helped to get my calmed down so she could get blood, clean me up, etc.

She’s my best friend. She never left my side, and I am truly grateful for everything she has done for me. She’s my hero. You’re awesome, Dani, and I love you.” Nominated by: A Patient
