Whether you’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day or starting your morning on a healthy note, this anti-inflammatory green smoothie is a smart and delicious choice. Made with leafy greens, fresh ginger and naturally sweet fruit, it delivers vibrant flavor and powerful nutrients without the added sugar.

This smoothie is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free.

A person stands behind a cutting board with ginger, spinach, turmeric, chia seeds, and a spoon, next to a glass of green smoothie with a straw on a kitchen counter.

Why It’s Anti-Inflammatory

  • Leafy greens, such as spinach or kale, are rich in vitamins A, C and K, along with antioxidants that help fight oxidative stress in the body.
  • Ginger and turmeric contain natural anti-inflammatory compounds that support digestion and joint health.
  • Banana adds natural sweetness and potassium to support muscle and heart health.
  • Chia seeds and flaxseeds provide fiber and omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce inflammation.
  • Unsweetened almond milk creates a smooth, creamy base without added sugar.

Blended together, these ingredients create a refreshing green smoothie that’s easy to enjoy any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or any non-dairy milk of choice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup fresh spinach or kale
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • A pinch of black pepper (to activate turmeric)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup (add more to taste)
  • ½ cup of ice

Instructions

  1. Peel the banana. Wash the spinach or kale thoroughly. Peel and grate the fresh ginger with a fine grater.
  2. Pour the almond milk into the blender first to help everything blend smoothly.
  3. Add the banana, spinach, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, chia seeds, flaxseeds and ice.
  4. Add honey or maple syrup if desired.
  5. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, stopping to scrape the sides if needed, until smooth and creamy.
  6. You can adjust the consistency by adding more almond milk if too thick or extra ice cubes if too thin.
  7. Pour into a glass or insulated bottle and enjoy.
