Employees Honored as Silver Lamp Award Recipients

Silver Lamp Award WinnersTwo employees at LeConte Medical Center were recently recognized for their extraordinary efforts in providing patient care. The 2022 honorees are Eddie “Bo” Huff, radiology supervisor, and Marjorie Guarin, inpatient physical therapist.

The Silver Lamp Award was created in 2006 to honor the “Lady with the Lamp,” Florence Nightingale. The award acknowledges outstanding contributions of healthcare professionals in their areas of clinical expertise. The Silver Lamp Awards are presented by The Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee to enhance the skills of dedicated healthcare professionals. The recipients receive scholarship funds toward their continuing education.

Bo Huff, Radiology Supervisor

Huff has worked at LeConte Medical Center for more than six years. During that time, he has worked his way up to the supervisor level in the imaging department.

“His exceptional leadership skills allow him to work well with staff and the entire leadership team,” said Teresa Huskey, imaging manager.“Bo has a thorough understanding on the business aspect of managing an imaging department. He is a problem-solver, and he analyzes situations and develops action plans to ensure the desired outcome is achieved.”

Huff’s scholarship will cover the cost associated with the Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) exam. This designation is a professional credential for radiology administrators focusing on human resources, asset resources, finance operations and communication.

Marjorie Guarin, Inpatient Physical Therapist

Marjorie M. Guarin has worked as an inpatient clinical specialist physical therapist at LeConte Medical Center for over three years. Her goals are to help patients improve mobility in order to decrease their time in the hospital.

“Guarin is dedicated to our patient population,” said Kay Funderberg, therapy center manager. “She obtained her Doctorate Degree in Physician Therapy since joining LeConte’s team, and she finished her Geriatric Specialist Certification. Her colleagues, the nurses, CNAs, doctors and case managers appreciate everything she does to facilitate early mobility for our patients.”

Guarin’s scholarship will be used to cover study materials, testing costs and travel expenses for the Vestibular and Concussion Certification. This certification will allow Marjorie to better serve LeConte Medical Center patients.
