Andrew Hodgin honored with The DAISY Award

A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days. Congratulations to Andrew, an RN on the critical care unit for being recognized with the DAISY award. Andrew was nominated by his coworker for the extra kindness he showed his patient and for being an extraordinary nurse. Read his full nomination below:

Andrew’s Nomination

“Andrew had a 17-year old female patient. The patient asked her dad to bring her makeup to the hospital because her boyfriend was coming to visit. Her dad did bring her makeup to her. Due to the patient’s status, she had to lay flat on the bed and could not sit up to put her makeup on. Andrew offered to help her put her makeup on. This meant so much to the patient.
