Roane County


Roane Medical Center is located in the heart of Harriman, in Roane County, Tennessee. Made up by five distinct historical communities, Roane County is an area full of both opportunity and beauty.  The city of Harriman, is home to approximately 6500 residents and the total population is within a 10 minute drive. Tennessee’s 3rd largest city, Knoxville, is less than an hour away. With the mild, but diverse, seasons East Tennessee is known for, residents of the area can enjoy the weather year round. Harriman is positioned between the Tennessee Valley Region and the Cumberland Plateau and is home to Watts Bar Lake, one of the largest lakes in the South.


Roane County is an ideal location for both the young and young at heart. Throughout its communities, residents and visitors can find thriving downtown districts full of charming shopping and dining options. Harriman is a richly historic city and in its Cornstalk Heights district more than 100 carefully maintained Victorian style buildings can be found. The Harriman Public school system is operated by Roane County Schools and private schools can be found throughout Roane County. Harriman is home to Roane State Community College and less than a 45 minute drive to the University of Tennessee.


Outdoor activities abound in Roane County, with over 56,000 acres of recreation, including parks, water, trails, golf courses and wildlife areas. Harriman’s outdoor highlights include Watts Bar Lake, one of the largest lakes in the South, and the beautiful Riverfront Park. Summertime brings the annual Farmer’s Market in Harriman, as well as festivals throughout the county such as the Annual Cobbler, Bluegrass Festival, and Thunder Road Festival.
