You Can Help

Please keep the following things in mind while visiting Cumberland Medical Center to help ensure everyone stays safe and secure.

Infection Control

Patients are admitted to the hospital with a variety of illnesses. Therefore, some may be infectious and spread easily upon touching one another or surfaces. You can help prevent the spread of germs by routinely washing your hands, covering your cough and utilizing precautionary measures as recommended by our patient care team.

Valuables

Please take precautions to safeguard your valuables. If at all possible, limit the valuables you bring into the hospital. We recommend eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and dentures be kept in a protective container when not in use. This helps prevent them from being lost in linens, which are routinely taken to laundry.

Lost and Found

Patients and visitors are encouraged to protect their personal belongings. If you lose something, it is important to immediately notify your care team. There is a “Lost and Found” area where items can be stored until they are rightfully claimed. For assistance, please call 931-459-7022 or dial “0” for the operator.

Fall Prevention

A major part of patient safety includes the prevention of falls. We encourage you to follow your care team’s recommendations; such as asking for assistance going to the restroom. In the healthcare setting, this helps reduce the possibility of fall-related injury.

Smoking

We are a tobacco-free campus. This means the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vapes are not allowed. This helps us protect patients and visitors from exposure to secondhand smoke, which can be especially harmful to those who are oxygen dependent. Please call 931-459-7017 if you would like information on smoking cessation.
