Continuing Education Programs
Nurse Residency Program
The Nurse Residency Program at Covenant Health is a program established to support new graduate nurses (RNs) through their first year of nursing. Geared towards nurses with less than one year of acute care experience, NRP is a year-long program where we meet as a group once a month for six months. We focus on confidence building, clinical decision-making, critical thinking and leadership…just to name a few things!
We’re committed to helping you successfully make the transition from an educational setting to a fast-paced hospital environment. Every newly graduated nurse is assigned to a specific facility and unit and is automatically enrolled in the program. All you need to do is apply online for job opening(s) that interests you!
The Covenant Health Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Licensed Practical Nurse Apprenticeship Scholarship Program
Roane County has launched the first LPN apprenticeship program in Tennessee, in partnership with TCAT Harriman and supported by the Rural Healthcare Grant.
Annually, students will be awarded paid on the job training and full tuition in scholarship funds or stipend.
Next Steps: A new cohort will begin in May, and interest is already growing. Please connect with us and submit an interest form.
High School Programs
Covenant Health believes in developing future healthcare providers, beginning as young as high school students through our Patient Care Assistant Programs.
Fort Loudoun Medical Center’s “Fort Loudoun Healing Hands” program is a state-certified Patient Care Tech Apprentice program for high school students ages 15-18 who are enrolled in healthcare courses and are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The program allows students to gain first-hand experience by working in a variety of departments, including emergency, medical/surgical, nursing, laboratory, imaging and surgical technician.
Fort Sanders Regional, Parkwest and Roane Medical Centers also have Patient Care Support Assistant programs for high school students interested in the healthcare field. Other Covenant Health facilities will offer the program in the coming years.
In addition to our PCSA program, Covenant Health provides guest speakers, industry field experiences, job shadowing, summer employment, career exploration, clinical time and volunteer opportunities to high school students.
