Chaplain Services
Caring for the Spiritual Needs of Our Patients and Community

At Claiborne Medical Center, we want to care for your emotional and spiritual needs as well as provide excellent medical services. We would be glad to notify your pastor or spiritual advisor of your hospital stay at your request. You can also request a visit by one of our volunteer chaplains.
To arrange a visit by a hospital chaplain, notify your nurse or call 423-526-2388. In an emergency, please call the operator and have the house supervisor paged.
Dr. William N. Smith Chapel
Located on the main floor next to our radiology department, the Dr. William N. Smith chapel is open 24 hours a day. It provides a quiet place for persons of all faiths to pray, meditate or find respite. The chapel is named after Dr. William N. Smith, who was one of the founding medical staff members when our hospital opened as Claiborne County Hospital in 1959.
Volunteer Chaplain Program
Our volunteer chaplain program provides spiritual counseling and guidance for patients, volunteers, and staff. A volunteer chaplain is on call at all times and is available upon request. If you or a family member would like a chaplain to visit, simply contact your nurse or the house supervisor.
Would you like to join our volunteer chaplain program? Call Volunteer Services coordinator Betsy Maples at 423-526-2192 to see how you can become a member of our team.
