Hospital partners with Ridgeview and Health Department for tri-annual health needs assessment

A Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is a critical process used by public health departments, hospitals, and community organizations to understand the health status, needs, and concerns of a specific population. It involves gathering data through surveys, focus groups, public health statistics, and interviews with stakeholders to identify key health challenges and disparities. The goal is to create a comprehensive picture of the community’s well-being and to inform decisions about health programs, policies, and resource allocation.

Methodist Medical Center, Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services, and the Anderson County Health Department, along with other community entities are currently working on the 2025 Healthy Anderson CHNA.

The CHNA process typically includes several phases: data collection, analysis, community engagement, and the development of a health improvement plan. Through collaboration with local residents, healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies, the assessment helps uncover not just the medical needs of the community, but also the social, environmental, and economic factors that influence health. Topics may range from access to healthcare and mental health services to nutrition, housing, and transportation.

Health Summit event provides opportunity for community feedback

An upcoming Health Summit event will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at the United Way of Anderson County. At this event, results of the recent CHNA will be presented, highlighting the top health priorities identified through community feedback. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions, provide input, and learn how they can participate in efforts to improve health outcomes in the region.
