After experiencing infertility and two miscarriages, Patsy turned to Michael Doody, MD, at Covenant Health’s Center for Reproductive Medicine for answers. Through advanced testing, personalized treatment and compassionate support, she overcame challenges that once seemed overwhelming. She is now the proud mother of three children and grateful for the care that helped make her family complete.

When Patsy looks at her three children, she sees answered prayers. “Being a mom is what I’ve always wanted to be,” Patsy says. “I just knew that I was called to be a mom.”

She’s grateful to spend her days chasing after 5-year-old Sonny, 3-year-old Colton, and baby Goldie.

Discovering the Cause

After welcoming their first child without complications, Patsy and her husband, Jonathan, expected growing their family would be simple. Instead, months passed without another pregnancy. Looking for answers, Patsy turned to Michael Doody, MD, at Covenant Health’s Center for Reproductive Medicine.

Through testing and careful evaluation, Dr. Doody discovered issues affecting Patsy’s hormone levels and reproductive health. He developed a personalized treatment plan and took time to explain her next steps.

“I had never been through something like this,” Patsy says. “Each step of the process, he would explain what the test was for and what we could rule out. He wanted to find the source of the problem.”

After beginning treatment, Patsy became pregnant. The pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

The loss was devastating. Yet even during one of the hardest seasons of her life, Patsy says the care she received helped her find hope.

“When I had my first miscarriage, I remember him saying, ‘I know this is devastating, but your body was able to hold a pregnancy. And that is something positive to look at.’ That’s something I’ll never forget.”

A Journey Through Loss and Hope

Soon afterward, Patsy became pregnant again and welcomed a healthy baby boy, Colton. She credits both her faith and the care she received for helping make that possible.

Years later, while hoping for a third child, Patsy struggled to conceive again and ultimately suffered another miscarriage. This time, further testing revealed an underlying clotting disorder that had gone undetected and was preventing pregnancies from progressing normally.

With that answer in hand, Dr. Doody adjusted her treatment plan and prescribed medication to support a future pregnancy. Through expert care, advanced testing and a personalized approach, Patsy finally had the answers she had been searching for.

The result was her third child, Goldie.

“Dr. Doody helped find out what was causing the root of my losses,” Patsy says. “Now I have this healthy, beautiful baby girl who I prayed for. It gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.”

Compassion Beyond Clinical Care

Throughout her journey, Patsy says both the medical expertise and compassion she experienced  stood out.

After her second miscarriage, Patsy learned the difficult news during an office visit. Overwhelmed with grief, she found herself surrounded by people who genuinely cared.

“They took care of my kids for me while I was in the clinic,” she recalls. “They were just so compassionate in such a dark time for me. I’ll never forget how much they cared.”

She also remembers the support she received throughout her pregnancies and deliveries at Covenant Health facilities, including Covenant Health’s Parkwest Medical Center.

“Everybody was warm, friendly and caring,” she says. “We were blown away at Parkwest.”

One of Patsy’s favorite memories came after Goldie was born. She returned to Dr. Doody’s office with all three of her children so the team could meet the family they had helped grow.

“He said, ‘You have no idea how much this means to us to see your kids and to see the newest baby,’” Patsy says.

Today, as she watches Sonny, Colton and Goldie grow, Patsy sees daily reminders of God’s faithfulness and the care from Covenant Health that helped make their lives possible.

“I believe God puts people in your life for a reason,” she explains. “Dr. Doody was put into my life for a reason. If my story can help even one person, I hope it does.”
