The grade marks the fifth consecutive “A” received

November 13, 2025 – Covenant Health Morristown-Hamblen has earned another “A” hospital safety grade for Fall 2025 from The Leapfrog Group, marking the fifth consecutive “A” grade the hospital has received. Morristown-Hamblen is designated as a “Straight A” hospital, defined as hospitals that have earned an “A” grade for the fall and have sustained that grade for the last five or more grading rounds. Roughly 12 percent of eligible hospitals have earned this designation.

The Leapfrog Group collects and reports data related to safety, quality, and other aspects of hospitals’ performance. Leapfrog assigns safety grades based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team’s unwavering focus on quality and the patient experience,” said Gordon Lintz, president and chief administrative officer of Covenant Health Morristown-Hamblen. “Receiving our fifth consecutive ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog is a powerful testament to the dedication and excellence our team brings to patient care every day.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the spring and fall.

“My sincere congratulations to Covenant Health Morristown-Hamblen for upholding patient safety standards through thick and thin, achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for five consecutive rounds of the Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Consistently earning an ‘A’ demonstrates a long-term, organization-wide commitment to putting patient safety first.”

Other Covenant Health hospitals earning “A” safety grades are Covenant Health Claiborne, Tazewell; Covenant Health Cumberland, Crossville; Covenant Health Fort Loudoun, Lenoir City; Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional, Knoxville; Covenant Health LeConte, Sevierville; Covenant Health Methodist, Oak Ridge; and Covenant Health Roane, Harriman.
