January 2026 – Covenant Health is pleased to announce Jason Pilant as the new president and chief administrative officer of Cumberland Medical Center, effective Jan. 1, 2026. Pilant succeeds Randy Davis and will manage hospital operations, work with Covenant Health leadership to carry out enterprise goals and aid in the facility’s growth plans. Pilant joins the hospital from Covenant Health Roane, where he served as the president and chief administrative officer for the last eight years.

While at Roane, Pilant led the hospital through many milestone accomplishments. The hospital was designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and received four accreditations by the American College of Radiology in various imaging procedures and as a lung cancer screening center. Roane has received several 5-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, been a recipient of Zero Harm Awards from the Tennessee Hospital Association and earned several of the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® quality achievement awards for stroke care. The facility also has eight consecutive “A” Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group and has been named on Newsweek’s 2025 and 2026 lists of “America’s Best-in-State Hospitals.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Cumberland Medical Center and the Crossville community. Cumberland is a strong hospital with a proud tradition of service, and it is an honor to work alongside such a committed team in support of this growing and vibrant community,” said Pilant. “To have the privilege of serving both Roane and Crossville underscores the importance of community-based health care. These are communities that value partnership, accountability and access to high-quality care close to home. I look forward to contributing to the continued strength and success of health care services in Crossville.”
Prior to Roane, Pilant worked across the Covenant Health enterprise, including at LeConte and Fort Sanders Regional Medical Centers and in corporate roles. His roles have encompassed sourcing and purchasing, supply chain management, staff management, finance, budgeting, capital acquisitions, and project management.
“Jason has shown great leadership while at Roane and has great oversight of hospital operations,” said Mike Belbeck, executive vice president of operations for Covenant Health. “His dedication to excellence, our patients and the community will position him for continued success at Cumberland.”
Pilant, an East Tennessee native, obtained his bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food science from the University of Tennessee. Following this, he pursued a master’s degree in business with a specialization in IT project management at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, and earned a doctoral degree in healthcare administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.
Pilant has received national recognition for his leadership, having been recognized as a “Community Hospital CEO to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review for the last three years. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
