Game On Against Cancer Benefits Patients at Thompson Cancer Survival Center

Game-lovers can bring out their competitive spirit for a good cause at the 8th annual Game On Against Cancer on Friday, March 1. The popular evening of games, music, food, beverages, and a silent auction benefits patients in need at Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at The Wakefield Corporation, 10646 Dutchtown Road in west Knoxville. Participants can challenge a local celebrity or compete with friends in games like table tennis, billiards, air hockey, darts, shuffleboard, cornhole or blackjack.

Proceeds from Game on Against Cancer support Thompson Cares, a fund that assists cancer patients facing financial needs. The event has raised nearly $350,000 over the past seven years. In 2018 Thompson Cares distributed nearly $82,000 to help more than 700 patients with housing, transportation, insurance, medication, and medical supplies so they could continue receiving cancer treatments.

“It’s a great event and a lot of fun for a great cause,” said Troy Kimsey, MD, medical director of Thompson Cancer Survival Center. In addition to Thompson Cares, Dr. Kimsey added that funds raised “benefit other programs through the Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation that help patients navigate through the process of cancer treatment.”

Tickets for Game On Against Cancer are $50. The ticket price includes admission, unlimited free play, one celebrity match (additional matches available for $20 each), food, and a beverage token.
