For today’s Flashback Friday, we are highlighting Sandra Tipton, department assistant in Women’s Services. Sandra is a part of a small group of employees at Regional with more than 40 years of service to our hospital. She has worked in Women’s Services throughout her entire career and is a trusted member of the department with her valued experience. Read more about Sandra below.
1.) When did you start your career at Fort Sanders Regional?
I started working at Fort Sanders Regional on May 14, 1974.
2.) Have you always worked in the same department?
Yes, I have worked my entire career here in Women’s Services.
3.) What is one major thing related to your job that has changed significantly over the course of your career? (ex. Any new technology/innovations?)
The system we use for employees to clock-in and self-scheduling
4.) How has the hospital grown or changed since you were hired?
The hospital is now much larger, and there are more people. There are more activities and even more opportunities to help others.
5.) What’s your favorite memory over the course of your time at Regional?
Making lifetime friends
6.) How much was a gallon of gas when you started at Regional?
Gas was 40 cents a gallon in 1973.
7.) What was your favorite TV show when you started?
The Waltons
8.) Do you remember the major news story from the year you started?
The Vietnam War troops coming home
