All Covenant Health acute care hospitals have received American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines® achievement awards for 2026. These awards are earned by following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for heart disease and stroke treatment. This helps save lives, supports recovery and reduces hospital readmissions.
Improving Outcomes Through Proven Care Standards
Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States and stroke is ranked at No. 4. Studies show patients can experience better outcomes when care teams consistently follow evidence-based treatment guidelines.

Get With The Guidelines® helps hospitals provide care based on the latest recommendations from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. The program uses proven, science-based guidelines to help improve patient outcomes.
“This recognition reflects the extraordinary dedication of our physicians, nurses, clinicians and support teams across Covenant Health,” said Ruth Fisher, senior vice president of cardiovascular services for Covenant Health. “We are honored that every one of our acute care hospitals has been recognized by the American Heart Association. We are especially proud that these awards highlight the consistent quality of cardiovascular care being delivered across our health system.”

A Recognition Built on Exceptional Caregiving
The awards recognize the work of physicians, nurses, clinicians and care teams across Covenant Health who provide timely, coordinated care for patients experiencing cardiovascular emergencies and stroke.
“At the heart of this achievement is our people. It’s the caregivers who are committed to delivering exceptional care when patients need it most,” said Fisher. “Most importantly, this achievement represents better outcomes and healthier futures for the communities we serve.”
A Shared Vision for Better Patient Outcomes
The American Heart Association also recognized the impact that Covenant Health hospitals are making in their communities through ongoing quality improvement efforts.
“These awards reflect Covenant Health’s commitment to caring for people in their community who need cardiovascular care,” said Karen E. Joynt Maddox, M.D., MPH, chair of the American Heart Association Quality Oversight Committee. “By following the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols, the healthcare teams at Covenant Health hospitals can help advance our shared vision of better patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates. This is a win for patients, families and health care systems.”
