Meeting a Growing Community Need
As the Upper Cumberland continues to grow, so does the need for accessible women’s healthcare services. More women are looking for convenient access to preventive care, pregnancy services and specialized support without traveling outside the region.
For generations, women and families have relied on Cumberland Medical Center during some of life’s most important moments. A Legacy Rooted in Women’s Health
The history of women’s healthcare in Cumberland County continues to shape care today.
Long before the recent expansion, women in Cumberland County benefited from the vision of Dr. May Cravath Wharton, the first physician to serve Cumberland County. the first physician to serve Cumberland County. Her work caring for families across the Cumberland Plateau ultimately helped lay the foundation for Cumberland Medical Center and expanded access to healthcare throughout the region.
Her commitment to serving local families helped create a lasting tradition of compassionate, community-focused care. That same spirit continues through Covenant Health Women’s Care Cumberland and the providers who care for women throughout every stage of life.
While healthcare has changed significantly over the decades, the goal remains the same: ensuring women and families have trusted healthcare resources in their own community. The expansion represents the next chapter in a legacy that has served generations of residents across the Upper Cumberland.
