Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional has earned another “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2026 from The Leapfrog Group. This marks the eighth consecutive “A” grade the hospital has received.

What are The Leapfrog Group Safety Ratings?

The Leapfrog Group collects and reports data related to safety, quality and hospital performance. They assign safety grades based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that a hospital is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”

Tab Culbertson, president and chief administrative officer of Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional stated, “Achieving our eighth consecutive ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group is a powerful affirmation of the drive and dedication of our care teams. Their commitment fuels innovation and continuous growth as we raise the bar on patient safety and deliver the highest standard of care for our community. I am extremely proud of our team for making this achievement possible for the past four years.”

Fort Sanders Regional Earns “Straight A” Status

Fort Sanders Regional is designated as a “Straight A” hospital, defined as hospitals that have earned an “A” grade for the spring and previous five or more grading rounds. Roughly 15.7% of eligible hospitals have earned this designation.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or death. “Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional deserves recognition for its unwavering focus on protecting patients and delivering safe care, earning an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for eight consecutive cycles,” said Binder. “Sustaining this level of excellence over time shows a true, organization-wide commitment to making patient safety a top priority every single day.”
