Covenant Health CMO Honored

March 2023 – Mark Browne, MD, MMM, CPE, FACPE, was recently named to the 2023 Becker’s Hospital Review list of “110 CMOs to Know.” Browne has served as senior vice president and chief medical officer of Covenant Health since 2012.

Becker’s Hospital Review, a publication focusing on hospital business news for healthcare executives, says chief medical officers included on the list “play a crucial role in directing their organization’s forward momentum while continuing to serve their patients and communities first and foremost.”

Browne’s responsibilities include overseeing medical staff affairs, credentialing and medical staff quality, and coordinating service line activities for the Covenant Health system. He also oversees all areas of clinical quality and patient safety, including the supervision of clinical service lines. Browne is also a key leader in Covenant Health’s partnerships with local medical schools and serves as a spokesperson for various medical issues in the community.

Browne earned his doctorate in medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He holds a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University at the Heinz School of Public Policy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics and is a fellow and member of the American Association for Physician Leadership.
