Congratulations to Cameron Bennett with our Environmental Services team, for being presented with a BEE Award. The BEE Award is short for Being Exceptional Every day which is aimed at celebrating our support service caregivers. It’s a compliment to the DAISY award for RN’s and LPN’s because, as we all know, you can’t have a DAISY without a BEE and vice versa!

A Genuine Sense of Caring

Cameron’s nomination was initiated because of observations made through our Patient Experience advisor – someone who witnesses staff-to-guest interactions every day.  The genuine dialogue and expressions he observed from Cameron and from those to whom he was speaking on this day prompted the advisor to submit the following nomination:

“I was sitting outside main registration in the lobby and witnessed an exceptional employee at work. This was Cameron! I watched him make a conscious effort to engage those around him. While he swept the floor, he greeted visitors coming in from the parking garage. He saw a young man with a lion on his shirt and stopped and asked him, ‘Do you like the Lion king?” The young man smiled and said yes. You could tell he felt Cameron’s kindness.

Again, Cameron noticed a visitor’s shirt this time it had palm trees on it. He asked if they had been to Hawaii. They weren’t expecting this greeting and was surprised by Cameron’s kindness. I believe Cameron deserves this award because he repeatedly made the choice to be exceptionally friendly and interested in others. This is what it means to put our patients FIRST!”

Honored Alongside VIP Guests

Methodist’s Chief Support Officer, Jay Shepherd, delivered the award as a part our national recognition month for hospital employees. On hand to celebrate his honor were a large gathering of Cameron’s team and hospital leadership, along with two very important guests, his mom and uncle who also work at Methodist.

Cameron stands next to his mom, Tammy Russell, who also works the hospital as a patient transporter.

“Because of your friendly, approachable, and inclusive demeanor you have the capability to make our patients and guests feel comforted and probably help to make them feel less anxious during a time when they may feel worried,” remarked Shepherd during the presentation.  “We are honored to have you on our team and know how much you deserve to be a BEE honoree! ”

Submit a BEE Nomination

Methodist Medical Center implemented The BEE (Being Exceptional Every day) Award to recognize employees who aren’t RNs and LPNs (they can be nominated for The DAISY Award). A DAISY can’t survive without a BEE and a BEE can’t survive without a DAISY!

Please say thank you by sharing your story of how our employee made a difference you will never forget!
