Covenant Health LeConte Named a Best Maternity Hospital by Newsweek

Covenant Health LeConte is named among “Best Maternity Hospitals 2020” by Newsweek. The distinction was awarded to 231 facilities in 36 states, and Covenant Health LeConte is one of only four hospitals in Tennessee to be included.

Newsweek partnered with The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that reports on the safety and quality performance of U.S. health care facilities, to determine the elite hospitals for maternity care. The list is based on standards of excellence in maternity care, including low rates of C-sections, episiotomies, and early elective deliveries, and adherence to specific protocols to protect mothers and babies. Covenant Health LeConte was recognized by The Leapfrog Group earlier this year, receiving an “A safety grade” for meeting the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

More than 1,000 babies are born annually in the 19-bed Dolly Parton Birthing Unit. LeConte’s birthing unit received a “BEST for Babies Award” from the Tennessee Department of Health and the Tennessee Hospital Association, and the medical center is certified as a “Safe Sleep Hospital” for providing education to patients about newborn sleep safety.
