Reasons You Might See a Pulmonologist
You may need to see a pulmonologist if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms:
- Chest pain or tightness
- Cough that doesn’t improve over time
- Dizziness
- Shortness of breath
- Sleep apnea (extreme tiredness or loud snoring)
- Wheezing
During your time with us, you may need testing to help with diagnosis and treatment of your respiratory condition. We commonly perform:
- Blood analysis
- Bronchoscopy (use of a bronchoscope to look into your windpipe and lungs)
- Chest X-ray or computed tomography (CT) scan
- Pulmonary function test (determines how well your lungs work by measuring how much air goes into and out of your lungs, how much air goes from your lungs to your blood, and how well your lungs work during exercise)
- Sleep studies
- Spirometry (measuring how much air goes into and out of your lungs while you breathe)
