About Me
Dr. David Pickett was born in Puerto Rico while his father was in dental school and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is married and has 4 children. Dr. Pickett went to Brigham Young University and graduated in 2003 with a B.S. Degree in microbiology. His graduate work was in microbiology bio-warfare agents specifically botulinum toxin where he has a patent in rapid identification of BOTOX earning him a M.S. Degree. Dr. Pickett went to University of Florida College of Dentistry and obtained his D.M.D. Degree in 2009. His Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency was done at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville; and rotated with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital working in craniofacial defects and clefts. Finishing in 2013, he has continued to work with the residents in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UT Medical Center.
Dr. Pickett is BOARD CERTIFIED with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, is a member of the ADA, AAOMS, SSOMS, TSOMS, and the 2nd District Dental Society. He won The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Outstanding Poster Presentation Award at the 94th Annual Meeting for research and was awarded the guardian Angel Award for outstanding patient care and compassion at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Dr. Pickett is currently on staff at University of Tennessee Medical Center, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Children’s West Surgery Center, Parkwest Hospital, and Fort Sanders Hospital, Fort Loudoun Hospital; and is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
