Dena Charles, APN

Dena S. Charles earned a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies in 2006 and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education in 2007, both from University of Tennessee. After dedicating time to raising her children, Dena returned to University of Tennessee to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which she completed in 2017. Her experience as a surgical nurse reinforced her passion for preventive care and early intervention, inspiring her to expand her role in patient care. In 2023, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Dena is committed to partnering with patients to develop individualized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based practice. She emphasizes patient education while incorporating each individual’s values, beliefs, cultural background, and healthcare goals into the decision-making process. She lives with her husband and three daughters. In her free time, Dena enjoys spending time with her puppies, family, and friends, along with reading, traveling, and water activities.
