A Kingsport, Tennessee native, Dr. Kerns, received his medical degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed an internship, his residency and fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky where he was chief medical resident. Dr. Kerns is board certified in medical oncology and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Dr. Kerns currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Oncology at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
