LeConte Medical Center Awarded Top Rural Hospital
LeConte Medical Center Named a Top Rural Hospital for 2021
Sevierville, TN, December 7, 2021– Highlighting recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, LeConte Medical Center was named a 2021 Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national organization which promotes healthcare quality and measures hospital performance in patient safety.
“Receiving this recognition is a reflection on how serious our staff takes patient safety.” Gaye Jolly, president and chief administrative officer of LeConte Medical Center said. “We love serving the Sevier County community and we value each patient as if they’re a part of our family.”
Over 2,200 U.S. hospitals were considered for Leapfrog’s Top Hospital Awards. A total of 149 hospitals were selected as Top Hospitals in four categories. LeConte Medical Center is one of just 23 hospitals to be named a Top Rural Hospital.
In order to receive a Top Hospital designation, hospitals must meet rigorous standards for quality patient care and safety in areas such as infection rates, surgery, maternity care and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication and other errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are pleased to recognize LeConte Medical Center as a Top Hospital this year,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Even with the continued strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, LeConte has demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to excellent health care in the Sevier County community. We congratulate the board, leadership, staff and clinicians who put their patients first.”
